The best place to position your 4G or 5G modem is near a window where it can receive the strongest mobile signal, ideally facing towards the closest cell tower (call Netspeed if you are unsure). Higher is usually better, so a windowsill, shelf, or upstairs room will often provide better performance than placing the modem low down or behind furniture.
Try to avoid placing the modem inside cupboards, behind TVs, or near thick concrete walls or large metal surfaces, as these can weaken the mobile signal.
The first location you try may not necessarily give you the best results. We recommend testing a few different spots around your home and running a speed test at “www.fast.com” each time. Generally, the higher the Mbps result, the faster your internet connection will be.
Once you’ve found the location that consistently gives you the best speed, you can make that the modem’s permanent home.
